Competitor Number: 2021-3   Address: 707 N Webster Ave

"A garden that's clearly about to explode with color."

Competitor Number: 2021-4   Address: 414 Gilbert St

"Stunning carpet of color, bit I would have loved a little diversity in amongst the planting."

*RUNNER UP - JUDGE'S CHOICE*

Competitor Number: 2021-5   Address: 607 3rd Ave

"Should be commended for their excellent use of native cacti and tropical plants along a sunny, heavily trafficked, very dangerous curved road."

"Creative use of plants to provide a variety of vivid color and textures. The native cacti in full bloom, which was just humming with pollinators when we visited, is quite impressive and stunning. What made this my runner-up was the placement of shade-tolerant plants in full sun, which are not doing well."

"It is clear someone put a lot of effort, thought and time into this garden. Loved the shear mass of color."

"The garden litterally wrapped the house in color!"

*HIGHLY COMMENDED*

"Abundance at its best. I'm sure the seasons are all represented with vibrant color."

"The slope shows off every aspect of the garden to everyone that passes. It's like looking at a beautiful painting."

"Loved the use of the allium to add height and lightness to the massed planting!"

Competitor Number: 2021-7   Address: 2616 Cedar Ave

"Some eye-catching elements."

 *JUDGE'S CHOICE*

Competitor Number: 2021-8   Address: 229 East Mountain Rd

"Great use of small space, 4 Season interest with a wide variety of healthy plants. Spectacular bonsai collection."

"I thought this was the most aesthetic example of how to eliminate lawn area without appearing over-planted or cluttered. This has curb appeal and a creative, thoughtful plan. I loved the placement of a Bonsai within the garden (and around the porch); it hints to this home owner’s hobby. Quite a beautiful collection."

"A garden that’s bursting with vitality and diversity. A gorgeous use of color, textures, with lots of perennials."

"Very tasteful planting that tied the house to the garden."

Competitor Number: 2021-12   Address: 543 Clay Ave

"Stunning maturity that is obviously meticulously maintained."

*RUNNER UP - PEOPLE'S CHOICE*

Competitor Number: 2021-13   Address: 614 Campbell St

"Great potential."

Competitor Number: 2021-15   Address: 1405 Oram St

"Just needs a few years to reach its potential."

*HIGHLY COMMENDED*

Competitor Number: 2021-16   Address: 540 Harrison Ave

"I would add that I am encouraged by those who are devoting their attention to making their urban gardens as pollinator-friendly and lawn-free as possible. The home owners with vegetable and herb gardens on Harrison and E. Gibson are to be commended for moving in that direction."

"What a fabulous example of making use of an entire yard to grow food. Tidy, organized, prolific, and I wish it was mine!"

*WINNER - PEOPLE'S CHOICE*

Competitor Number: 2021-17   Address: 1711 Olive St

"Must mention this garden because I loved the presence of the pollinator plants. Small space that was full from the sidewalk and included the porch."

*HIGHLY COMMENDED*

Competitor Number: 2021-24   Address: 801 N Irving Ave

"This garden exhibits a fabulous use of healthy plants for screening/privacy in an urban setting. Scale is perfect! Impactful simplicity, sleek and modern, clean and uncluttered."

"Aesthetically pleasing, uncluttered, proportions are in line with the style of the home and plants are chosen with attention to an area that is partially shaded and in full sun. Creativity is right there with the use of natural fencing for privacy. I best describe this as tastefully “enough”. Curb appeal is just spot on."

Competitor Number: 2021-28   Address: 2108 Luzerne St

"Stunning mix of colorful, established shrubs."

"Just a little sparse for me. This garden would be a real contender if filled out with planting to highlight the shrubs."

Competitor Number: 2021-30   Address: 1224 East Gibson

"This is my urban gardening dream garden. It needs time and can/will be a future winner."

"I would add that I am encouraged by those who are devoting their attention to making their urban gardens as pollinator-friendly and lawn-free as possible. The home owners with vegetable and herb gardens on Harrison and E. Gibson are to be commended for moving in that direction."

"A very different perspective, as this garden is somewhat elevated it's hard to fully appreciate all of it from the sidewalk. Plants with height to draw the eye to the rear of the garden would add interest."
